Well it seems that we've reached the end of the fall '08 semester. I can't wait to head home for three weeks. Its gonna be a fantastic three weeks. I get to spend time with my family, my girlfriend, and my friends. Even better is that my friend thats in the Navy is taking a week off so I get to see him for a while. Probably the best thing about the end of this semester though no more classes. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy most of my classes. It's really more the no homework or tests or papers for three weeks. Part of it is also finishing my first semester at college, getting used to living away from home and not seeing my family, as well as managing my classes and work. I feel that I'm prepared for next semester and all the others to come. That's one down but there are seven to go.
Man this really sucks. You see I'm pretty big on playing video games. Its just something that I do a lot of. The console that I play is an Xbox 360. As of right now it is busted. If you know anything about console games these days then you know that there is a big rivalry between Sony's Playstation, and Microsoft's Xbox. It's a big race between the two corporations to make a better system and get it out faster than the other. Microsoft got their newest Xbox, the 360, out quite some time before the Playstation 3. This rush caused Microsoft to use a lot of faulty parts and what not in the making of the 360. They seem to be prone to failure and things tend to break fairly easily. This is a big problem for people like me because I really enjoy playing Xbox and I like the Xbox much better than the Playstation. The biggest problem that the Xbox has is one with the motherboard. When the console overheats some of the soulders on the motherboard come off. This causes a general hardware failure, and Xbox becomes useless. You can't play ur games or anything with it. The way you know if you have this failure is the Red Ring of Death or RROD. Its three of the lights on the power button that are usually green but are now red and flashing. When you get this the only thing that you can do is send it in to Microsoft and they'll fix it. This happened to me about six months ago and I went about a month without playing Xbox. Thats a long time for me. I thought the problem was fixed for good, sadly I was mistaken. In the past week my Xbox recieved this RROD once again and I'm pissed off at Microsoft for not fixing the problem the first time.
Well as many if not all of you know finals week is rapidly approaching. It seems like a lot of people are really stressed out because of this. I don't really know if I'm stressed or not. I've never been one to stress about a test before. Its just never been a problem for me, I guess I'm just very good at managing stress or something like that. I am a little worried about some of them. Three of my classes in particular. Being an actuarial science major I have to take a lot of mathematics courses. So as of right now I have three; Calculus 2, Introduction Finance, and Math Software. These classes tend to be a little difficult, but whats even worse is that all three of my finals for those classes are on the same day. That sucks a lot, but to make that even worse is they are all back to back. Calculus 2 is from 9:45 AM - 11:45 AM; Finance is from 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM; and Software is from 2:15 PM - 4:15 PM. So as if it wasn't bad enough that I must take three different and difficult math tests in one day, but I'm going to be taking tests for almost six and half straight hours. Its gonna be a long day. And a long week of finals. Thank god we get three weeks of break once those tests are finished, I can't wait.
Two nights ago, on Wednesday, Ball State won against Central Michigan. This makes them 11-0, and an undefeated season so far. This is really fantastic, for many number of reasons. It means the Cardinals are getting closer to a chance at BCS. That's awesome for anyone, but for me its an amazing feeling because when I was in high school our sports teams in general, with the exception of a few, were absolutely horrible, and never got a chance at something like nationals, or state or anything like that. Well that's sort of two reasons in one. Because we were so horrible at sports, football and basketball in particular, we almost never won a single game in either. I, unfortunatly was forced to watch all the home games for both because I just happened to be in the band. So I know how bad those teams were. I was embarrassed to even be there watching them play, they were absolutley, ridiculously horrible. Almost every year I was in high school we were the exact opposite of undefeated, we never won. The years we didnt lose every game, we only won one maybe two, it was bad. Thats why this season being from a school that is having a great undefeated season is wonderful. It's nice to be able to cheer for your team without looking like a complete moron because they suck.
